John Black, British journalist and newspaper editor. For twenty-six years, Black was the editor of the London newspaper The Morning Chronicle. He is perhaps best remembered as having been the first employer of a young Charles Dickens, who later described Black as his "first hearty out-and-out appreciator.". To an unnamed reporter : 1 autograph note signed : 1825 (MISC 0369), regarding coverage of a coronation for the Morning Chronicle.
